An extract from “Voter Registration Procedures “Part 2 Annexure A

1.5.4. Only South African citizens who are not on the voters’ roll are required to register.

1.5.5. NB. If a South African citizen is already registered to vote inside South Africa:

-They need not re-register to vote outside the country.

-They however will be required to complete an online “NOTIFICATION AND APPLICATION TO CEO FOR SPECIAL VOTES ABROAD” form application to indicate that they will be voting outside the country.

-The online “NOTIFICATION AND APPLICATION TO CEO FOR SPECIAL VOTES ABROAD” form application will be available on the IEC website on the date of proclamation for a period of 15 days thereafter.

-Citizen can also check to confirm If they are registered on the IEC website at www.elections.org.za

1.5.6. Ultimately the responsibility to ensure that a citizen is registered to vote, remains with the citizen. The role of the missions is to facility the registration process on behalf of the IEC.
